Gold
This piece of jewellery is made from Gold, a lustrous yellow, precious metal. Fantastic for use in jewellery because of its malleable nature and ability to form a range of shapes with a long lasting finish.
Material
Gold purity is measured in karat's, indicated by the letter k. Because Gold is very soft, other metals are alloyed with it to add strength, this process lowers the karat and also lightens the colour.
24k Gold is soft and vivid yellow in colour, its the highest purity available. The lowest karat Gold sold in the UK is 9k, it is much harder than higher purity's and a duller tone of yellow.
Care Advice
Care for your Gold jewellery by storing it in a clean and dry environment, keep separate from other jewellery to help minimise surface scratches.
We advise that you keep your jewellery away from chemical products for example chlorine, perfumes, moisturisers and hair products.
Over time Gold will potentially wear.
Care for Decorative finishes
Gold is available in many finishes with a range of surface patterns; they can take a little more knowledge when cleaning so as not to damage your jewellery.
Brushed, matte and textured Gold can be cleaned using lukewarm soapy water and gently rubbing with a soft toothbrush.
Plain polished Gold can be cleaned with Gold polishing cloths to restore lustre.
